When the natch up was announced for the Rose Bowl there was a lot of grunts and groans about how the game was going to suck because the Wisconsin Badgers were not the true champions of the Big Ten.
There was definitely an argument there. Thanks to the suspensions of Ohio State and Penn State they were in the conference championship game by default. As luck would have it that was the time that the Badgers decided to play their game of the season crushing a good Nebraska team 70-31.
So technically the Badgers earned their third straight trip to the Rose Bowl, but they didn't really deserve it.
Technically.
I dig under dogs so I looked forward to watching this game. Wisconsin looked to finally have its QB issues dealt with towards the end of the season. Montee ball appeared to finally regain his 2011 form the latter half of the season. The Badger D was solid for most of the year. This could be a good game...
And it most certainly was. The Badgers gave the Cardinals everything they could handle. Ball showed NFL scouts that he is a force (hopefully they won't worry too much about his concussion history) with a solid 100 yard game, but the Stanford D was too much for the Badgers in the end.
Oh yeah--the final score was Stanford 20 Wisconsin 14.
