Rex Ryan in Trouble? Rob Ryan Losing Weight?

The NFL was in Indianapolis for the last week as the supposed best and hopefully brightest that the college ranks have to offer participate in the Underwear Olympics--an annual right of passage as they await the day they find out what NFL team they will be playing for.

For the teams it is a lot more than that. Coaches and scouts are present to watch, interview, and evaluate players, but also to speak with agents and conduct the business of the NFL. With many of the agents present for the Combine participants also representing current players it just becomes convenient to talk shop.

You would think that Rex Ryan would be looking to do that this week with his team in shambles, players getting dropped in order to make it under the cap, some players still to be signed, and positions in need of being filled.

Chief among the players that Rex needs to take care of is cornerback Darrelle Revis. Now as far as we have been led to believe by him, Revis isn't going anywhere. At least Rex doesn't want him to go anywhere.

However, it is starting to look as if the team's new general manager may not feel the same way. Last Thursday John Idzik danced around answering questions regarding the Jets intentions with Revis. While he is easily the team's best player, he is also an expensive one and they need to cut salary.

For some silly reason rather than just say that they are indeed shopping him around, the team appears to be playing with him and jerking the fans around as well. At the combine it seemed as if the Jets made a point to avoid Revis's agent.

While they have not been actively shopping Revis they have been listening.

Should he go this could spell trouble for Ryan. It appears as if he is going to be stuck with Mark Sanchez at quarterback again so if he is going to win any games he'll need a defense that can shut teams down. With the cuts that the team have made he is dreadfully short on veteran talent right now.

Take away his best player and the beginning of the end may be ushered in.

What he may want to do is spend a little time working out with Revis. The bonding time could help make him feel like New York is where he belongs. Plus as you can see in the picture it's bee awhile since he last worked out.

His brother Rob on the other hand is looking good; definitely has lost some weight since he left Dallas.
