Want to Squat 900+ Pounds like Ray Williams? Cornbread and Buttermilk

Ray Williams is a beast. The man is 6-feet tall and 361 pounds, and strong.

Real strong.

How strong? The junior college football coach set the U.S. record for the heaviest squat in the 275 pound and up division when he lifted 860 pounds at the Alabama State Powerlifting Championship last weekend (and he made it look easy):

Impressed? Well the man was not done there.

He wanted to hit a half ton, and as easy as he made 860 pounds look it appeared to be well within his reach. Come on--did you see the size of those tree trunk legs on this guy? How in the world does someone get that big?

In his case-- grandma's cornbread and buttermilk; good ole fashioned southern food.

You mean I could have lifted like this growing up? Man!

Ray did try to work his way up to the 1000 mark, but ended up seeing his 905 pound lift DQ'd because his feet did not remain stationary (he took a little step forward).

And even that looked easy!

This will not be the last time that we will see Ray lifting a on of weight. After doing this well at only his second tournament--yes, this was just his second tournament -he's likely to do even better next time after he really starts to train!
