Golden State Coach Mark Jackson Pats His Team on the Back a Little Too Soon

The Golden State Warriors are actually pretty good. No, I'm not kidding. After beating the Los Angeles Lakers 109-103 they sit pretty in the No. 6 seed for the Western Conference playoffs with a one game lead on the Houston Rockets and a 3.5 game lead on the Lakers with 10 games left to play in the regular season.

Head coach Mark Jackson should be proud of what his team has accomplished this season--and he is. In fact, he is not just proud of his boys he thinks they are the future of basketball in California. To drive that point home he composed the following tweet:

Strong words coming from a team that has not won a playoff series since 2006, and has only been to the playoffs once since the 1994-95 season. The team has only won 41 or more games just once since they won 50 in the 1993-94 season.

So while it is great that you have such confidence in your team Mark you might want to remember one thing--you haven't done anything yet. Yes, the Warriors are likely going to make the post season barring an epic breakdown, but it is only one trip that half the NBA makes every year.

One trip Golden State; two total over the last two decades. The Lakers have only missed the playoffs twice in the same time frame while going to the NBS Finals seven times and winning it five of those times.

Yeah, you have a ways to go before you can overlook the Lakers Mark Jackson--a long ways to go.
