Right when all appeared to be right in the Lakers Land the wheels come off in a 96-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. To be more specific, one wheel--a very important wheel--belonging to Kobe Bryant was injured.
The play came late in the fourth. As Kobe went up for a jump shot Dahntay Jones appears to undercut causing him to take a hard tumble to the court.
As bad luck would have it Kobe would end up getting a very nasty ankle sprain in the process. After the game it was pretty clear that Kobe was not very happy with the play when he was talking to reporters.
Does anyone else just love how Kobe throws in that line about seeking revenge?
When Kobe talks about being 'Jalen Rose'd' he is reffering to back in Game Two of the 2000 Finals when he did essentially the same thing Jones did in an effort to hurt Kobe.(Cosby Sweaters)
It will be interesting to see how long Kobe ends up being held out, if at all. From his demeanor after the game one could surmise that he mus really be hurting. Either that or really is just that mad and Dahntay Jones might want to be careful the next time these two teams meet.
If there was ever a time for Dwight Howard to prove that he has grown up and deserves to be included in conversations about today's elite in the NBA it is now. The Lakers have move into the No. 8 seed of the Western Conference, but only have a half game lead on the Utah Jazz.
So if he wants to get paid next season he may want to make sure the Lakers get back to their winning ways soon!
