Yes, sports fans, this one had the making of a great one. For one half it looked like it as the two teams played well, but Syracuse a little better. The Orange had an 13-point lead going into the first half and looked like the could upset the Cardinals.
Then the second half started and it all fell apart.
Louisville's defense clamped down something fierce in the second half holding Syracuse without a basket for more than 11 minutes--over half of the period!
"In order to get that type of defensive pressure, where you're conditioning, where all that hustle is a factor, you have to take good shots and we took good shots in the second half," said Louisville coach Rick Pitino. At one point the Cardinals went on a 41-10 run in the second half--talk about domination! In the end the Cards won by 17, 78-61.
Both teams will be in the Dance come the end of Selection Sunday; its just a matter of where they will be seeded. The Cardinals will be one of the No. 1 seeds and could quite possibly be the No. 1 seed of the tournament.
