Magic Johnson to Offer up $1 Million if LeBron Enters the Next Dunk Contest

There has been talk in recent years that guys like LeBron James would be interested in the All-Star Dunk Contest if there was a better prize involved--something like a cool million bucks or something (current prize is $100K to the winner and $50K to second place).

Thanks to Magic Johnson that has all changed. The man said during ESPN's pregame show Friday that he would pony up the $1 million.

Part of me wants to say "Oh! Cool!" Another part of me wants to say "Let it go people! You are just going to p*** the man off and he's going to do something crazy like go play baseball during his prime. Or worse--tight end for the Cleveland Browns!"

This comes on the heels of a week long controversy because a video of LeBron doing a rather acrobatic dunk during pregame warm-ups went viral.

Many folks seem to think that since he can throw down those kind of dunks just while the team is warming up, why not do it in the Dunk Contest that he has teased us about yet avoided his entire career.

Yes, it would be great to have LeBron James in the Dunk Contest. With $1 million on the line I imagine we could see Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant, and maybe Kobe Bryant in this sucker. It might be fun to see Vince Carter back in it again too.

Then again, all those guys make so much more than that each and every season will they really care enough to enter?
