After the latest shocking upset in this year's tournament I think it is safe to say that my bracket is broken beyond all hope. That's okay though, because that means that we've had some tremendous basketball to watch these last few days.
Case in point--the Wichita State upset of Gonzaga Saturday night in the Round of 32.
It was the kind of game that was almost expected after the close call that the Zags had in the first round. When they got down by 13 to the Shockers (love it, right?) it was not too--shocking (I couldn't resist).
Then the Zags started to act like what the No. 1 team in the nation should act like. Bit by bit they fought back; knocking the lead down ever so slowly. After a 12-0 run in the second half put them up by eight with just under 12 minutes remaining all appeared to be right with the world.
That is until the Shockers made it rain.
Threes, that is.
Starting around the six minute mark Wichita State was on fire from behind the arc hitting five three-point shots. When the fifth went in around the 1:28 mark the Shockers had a 70-65 point lead.
And the world was officially shocked (sorry; the pun is just a little too easy and tempting).
With the win Wichita State advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006. I would say that is sufficient reason to dance like Carlton Banks:
