Florida Gulf Coast University made for a great story in the days prior to the start of the tournament. You had the great views outside the dorm room of one of the players, head coach Andy Enfield being married to a supermodel, the schools first trip to the Big Dance--all the makings of a great fluff piece to take up air time before he action started.
Because when the games do start these guys will be like the rest of the No. 15 seeds that have hit the tournament and lose like they should, right?
Wrong.
The game appeared like it was going to be a good one in the first half. FGCU was sticking with the Hoyas, and actually had a two-point lead going into the half.
Then the Florida version of Lob City took over.
FGCU used a 21-2 run in the second half to take out a lead on Georgetown that they would never give up. The Hoyas would make a valiant push down the stretch, but the 'little guys that could' had too much of a lead, and went on to win 78-68.
With the win FGCU became just the seventh No. 15 seed to win a game. Next up will be No. 7 San Diego State.
