Miami Heat Win No. 21; Can They Break the Record?

Dwayne Wade was not 100 percent after suffering a strained neck early in the game, but LeBron James and Chris Bosh were more than enough to guide the Miami Heat to their 21st win in a row with a 107-94 victory.




James and Bosh combined for 56 points and shot right around 56 percent on the night. The Heat offense in
general had a solid night shooting 52 percent from the floor and hitting nearly half of their 3s as well (7 of 15).

Milwaukee never really had a chance after shooting just 37 on the night even thought they out rebounded the Heat 48-41.

"That was a good, tough win," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Our guys brought a great deal of energy and toughness against a team that plays at a high mode."

Wade suffered a hard fall with about seven minutes to go in the first quarter, but would later return to the game.

With the win the Heat's winning streak has reached 21 moving them past the 1970-71 Bucks for third longest winning streak in NBA history. While it still may be premature to get this kind of talk going discussions are bound to start soon--when are these guys going to lose and can they break the all-time regular season win streak record?                                                                                

The only team to get close to the record of 33 consecutive wins set by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers was the 2007-08  Houston Rockets who won 22. So in reality no one has ever actually come close.

For Miami to do it their already incredible streak will have to become legendary with another 13 wins needed--a good streak in itself! However, with the schedule they have in front of them the only thing that could stop them from doing it is themselves (and a game against San Antonio).

Of the 13 games that they would have to win only five of them are against playoff teams, and four of them will be minus at least one star when they play: Boston has lost Rajon Rondo; Chicago is still minus Derrick Rose; San Antonio has lost Tony Parker for the time being; and the Knicks are without Amar'e Stoudemire--possibly more!

Incidentally, if they do make to win No. 34 they will have to do so against the only other playoff team on their schedule and the team that accounted for win No. 21--the Bucks.
