San Antonio Spurs First to 50 Wins; Set NBA Record in Process

On a quiet night in the NBA one of the two games being played saw one of the game's best prove just why he is called the Big Fundamental.

Tim Duncan looked nothing like a 36-year old player that's bee at it in the NBA since 1997 after recording a monster double-double in a close win, 92-91, over in-state rival Dallas Thursday night.

Duncan had 28 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Spurs to a league high 50 wins on the season. It is also the 14th season in a row that San Antonio has reached that mark, an NBA record
"We've had guys come in and out of here. Teams have changed year in and year out and we're in this position. Obviously, it's been a while since we've won the championship but we want to get back to that," Duncan said.
This one did not come easy, and wasn't won till Vince Carter failed to hit a three at the end of the game.

San Antonio have won four championships in those 14 seasons, but have not done much in three of the last four seasons. They made it to conference finals last season, but prior to that were eliminated in the first round twice including a 61-win season (2010-11); in the other they were swept in the conference semifinals.

  1. The Spurs won FOUR championships with Duncan, not 3.
