After his incredible run to the Final Four a few years back VCU head coach Shaka Smart could have written his own ticket to a big name program. Instead he stayed with the Rams and has them ready to compete when it comes time to start dancing later this month.
He proved that when he led his team to a dominate win over the No. 20 Butler Bulldogs on Saturday, 84-52. While that mde everyone happy, it was what he did before the game--in fact, the night before the game--that earned him the title of Coolest Coach Ever.
The man had pizza delivered to fans that camped out the night before outside their home court.That's right. He got a bunch of students some pizza.
There desire to get some prime seats for the game had these students ready to brave the elements and lose the creature comforts of home. That true fandom! Shaka--who has the coolest name in all of college basketball by the way--decided to recognize that sacrifice.
So he brought them what college kids love most--free food in the form of pizza.
