Adidas to Donate Portion of Kevin Ware Tribute T-shirt Sales to School's Scholarship Fund

The idea had to seem like a great one for Addidas at first. Kevin Ware has become a figure for perseverance across the nation with the way he has handled his leg injury. On campus he is a symbol of the team; someone that the Cardinals Nation can rally around to show their love and support of the school and its basketball team.

So why not sell t-shirts in honor of and in tribute to Kevin?

The idea is genius; if I had the money (unfortunately blogging does not pay well) I would totally consider getting one even thought I am not a Louisville graduate or fan. However, in deciding to create the shirt the good people at Adidas forgot one important thing--

People do not like it when companies try to profit of the misfortune of others; especially that of a young kid like Kevin Ware (yes, I know he is in college and technically not a kid, but you get my point, right?).

This caused quite a stir on Wednesday on the World Wide Web prompting the company to make a very wise decision:
"The shirt was created as a respectful tribute to honor Kevin within NCAA trademark apparel parameters, and allow fans to rally around the team. Because of that, adidas is contributing a portion of every sell to the university’s scholarship fund.”
Smart move Addidas; even if it was a little late.
