Crazy Colts Fan - 2013 NFL Draft a Solid One for the Indianapolis Colts

Crazy Colts Fan - 2013 NFL Draft a Solid One for the Indianapolis Colts

The good thing about needing a number of spots strengthened or filled is that the team really couldn't go wrong with many of its early picks (as long as they didn't take a punter or kicker--which they didn't). Now that the draft is done, and there has been time to digest the picks the team has made I can say that beyond the shadow of a doubt that these guys did--

Good (hey, I've been sick so I'm a man of few words right now).

They answered the call and got what really appeared to be among the best players available at the times of their picks that also filled a need for the team.

Take first round pick Bjoern Werner out of Florida State. the 6'4'', 255 pound defensive end will provide some speed off the end and make sure that teams can't focus on Robert Mathis too much now that Dwight Freeney is gone. His non-stop engine and athleticism will give opposing teams fits this coming season for sure.

Like many of you, I had wanted the Colts to go with an offensive lineman first. Werner is a hard pick to argue with, but the line still needed to be addressed. The team did a good job of that in round 3 and 4 (they did not have a second round pick) where they took guard Hugh Thornton from Illinois and center Khaled Holmes from USC.
