The Denver Nuggets have been one of the most exciting teams in the NBA this season, and it shows with a franchise record high 55-wins. However, the best regular season in franchise history might be followed up by a lackluster post season due to injuries.
Danilo Gallinari has already been lost for the season, and in Sunday's 118-109 win over Portland the team saw up and coming star Kenneth Faried hit the court with an ankle injury. X-rays have been taken (negative) and he is currently listed as day to day.
Sadly, it isn't as easy as just saying 'let's rest him till the post season.'
With two games to go they are the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference; a spot that would have them playing the Houston Rockets in the opening round. That spot is not a lock--the Clippers and Grizzlies are only one game back.
Should they fall back to No. 4 or No. 5 they will end up having to play either the Clippers or Grizzlies rather than the Rockets in the first round. Not that Houston will be a push over by any means, but the Clippers or Grizzlies would likely be tougher teams to beat in a seven game series.
