As promised--heck, as expected--Tim Tebow reported for off-season workouts with the New York Jets this morning bright and early at about 6-6:30 AM.
If there is any player that we would expect to show regardless of his circumstances with the team it is Tebow. Since the world was introduced to him at Florida he has been all about doing the right thing and working hard to reach his goals. Even with the way he has been treated on the Jets we would expect him to do nothing else than continue to work hard.
If it was any other player it would be a surprise. I can't think of anyone else who would go to a team thinking he was going to get a shot to play and pretty much be treated as an afterthought, but still keep doing what he is supposed to do.
Tack on the fact that he was passed over for a shot to play last season and the constant talk that the Jets want to trade him (or should cut him), and I don't think there is a person on Earth that would fault Tebow for not showing up.
But he is Tebow. And he showed up (and will continue to show up as long as he is on the team). Just like we knew he would.
And that is just one of the many reasons why I like this guy. He may not get it done pretty (or get a fair shake), but whatever he does do he does right.

Tough guy, brave heart.
ReplyDeleteThat is the kind of man he is.If the Jets want to win they really need to let him start playing. However the Jets are loses and will never give him the chance. He is a winner and will all ways be a winner. I am a Fla.Nole die hard but I still like hime as he is the real deal .
ReplyDeleteI believe so many people look up to Tebow not because of his religious beliefs but because of his inexorable commitment to hard work, perseverence, and taking the high road. Tebow the football player is an extension of that commitment. I truly hope we get a chance to see him as a starting quarterback once again before the window closes. He may make mistakes on the field (really, who doesn't at any given point?) but I doubt there are many who head to the kitchen when he is under center.
ReplyDeleteTebow has too much character for the Jets. He chose them because he believed the Jet's owner, management and coaches were honest trustworth people just like him and could believe what they had told him. He found out that they are like snakes in the grass devouring people like him. There are other players in the NFL who have the character like Tebow. It's just that the owners, management and coaches at Denver and NY treated Tebow so badly and unfair that people have come to his support. I really hope (and pray) that some upright team in the NFL will give Tebow an honest chance at quarterback
ReplyDeleteI've never liked the Jets... when I was a Kid I thought it was a stupid name for a football team, hell, I still do... I'm a Broncos fan and when Tebow went to NY I had to see him play... Sad what Elway did to him... Sad what Ryan and the Jets have done to him... I want to see him play, I don't care what team he's on... something about him that we all admire - it's the underdog magic, the win that comes when it doesn't look possible - that is what Tebow gives.... He's like a pool player that is down by 7 balls and cornered but is able to run the table and win.... Tattoo boy Ryan is blinded by the butt fumble boy Sanchez... IF HE'D ACT LIKE A COACH and play Tebow per his strengths, they'd both look good... and maybe the Jets would get back their number one fan... and maybe.... just maybe.... Tebow and Joe Namoth can wear panty hose in a commercial and Joe will love Tebow forever = lol... but... it'll NEVER HAPPEN CAUSE THE JETS SUCK!!!!
ReplyDelete"Desperate to unload" whut? What IS UP with those Jets? They didn't even give Tim a chance to play at the end of LAST season.
ReplyDeleteI hope Tim goes somewhere he can show off his RUNNING skills AND his PASSING skills. Maybe the New England Patriots can turn him into a full back or tight end.
We LOVE you Tim! God bless you wherever you land.
"Desperate to unload" indeed. Maybe, the Jets should UNLOAD the coach Rex Ryan.
