David Beckham Gets Proper Send Off in Final Soccer Game (yes, he's retiring)

Everyone wants to go out on top when they walk away from their game, but few get to actually do it. When David Beckham announced his retirement on Thursday he already knew that his team, PSG, had already been crowned Ligue 1 champions.

Like any champion will tell you though, it still wasn't easy to walk away.
David Beckham getting some love after his final match as a pro.
Beckham got the start in his final game and even recorded an assist on the day when Blaise Matuidi headed an awesome kick from Beckham into the net. Later, during the 82nd minute of the game he was subbed out for the last time so that he could take one last bow.

Needless to say, it was a bit of an emotional moment.

There are few--if any athletes--that are as well known outside their sport as well as Beckham is. From his play to his looks (apparently chicks dig this guy) to his marriage to a Spice Girl, countless ads, and a movie that bears his name (Bend it Like Beckham--for you non-soccer/movie fans) his name and face is known by millions (if not billions) in and out of soccer.

Of course it helps that along with being ridiculously good looking (again--so I've been told by my female friends; I don't see it...) he was a phenomenal soccer player. Over the two decades that is pro career spanned he won 10 league championships in four countries and played in 115 caps for England.
"I just want people to see me as a hard-working footballer," Beckham says.
No problem there Becks.
