Butler was scheduled to speak at a Wisconsin church, but when the pastor got wind of Butler's support for Jason Collins the pastor decided to cancel the engagement.
As it turns out, some parents saw Butler's tweet in support of Collins--a short and sweet "Congratulations to Jason Collins"--and complained to the church. The pastor then contacted Butler to cancel the event. Surprised and not one to back down Butler referred him to their contract. Also not one to back down the pastor referred to the morals clause.
But if Butler wanted to speak still he could ask God for forgiveness and apologize then he could still talk and get his $8500 pay day.
His response:
Only god can judge,

The easy thing to for Butler to do would have been to in some way shape or form slip in the name of the church that is cancelling his appearance over his support of Jason Collins. As a result, the church wold have gotten some support, but it would have gotten much, much more negative publicity.
Instead he was the bigger--and better--man and left the name of the church out of his tweets. Sounds like some folks in that church could learn a thing or two from Butler on how to do the right thing.
I have received an apology from the church, but mainly thanking me for not releasing the church name, too me that's not important,
