Michigan State Loses Wide Receiver to...Rap?

Playing football for a major D1 program like Michigan State is a dream for most high school age kids. To get an education for free (cause student loans really suck), play a game, and maybe even have a chance at going pro (but still get an education in case you don't)?

Not a bad deal, right? So it's easy to see why someone would give it all up to try and make a go at a rap career. That's exactly what Jay Harris--excuse me Jay DatBull is doing.

Was the sarcasm too much there?

To each his own I suppose. I just hope that the young man has a line on a possible record deal already or at least a few club dates lined up not to mention a demo that he's shopping around. To drop out of school and give up a free ride in the process?

That is a lot to bypass just to give something a try (that's what summer breaks are for man).

The Spartans don't really lose much here. Yeah, there is the time they put into recruiting him. I don't know if they can just give the scholarship he was going to get to someone else or not. As a three star recruit he had to be good, but everyone in college is good.

So Jay could have become something, but there is no real reason to believe he was destined for gridiron greatness.
