Want to See Who Won the 2013 Preakness Stakes?

A little bit of the intrigue going into the Belmont Stakes was lost Saturday during the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes, but that's only because horse racing fans got what they hope for every time they head to the track.

A pretty tremendous race.

Orb, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, was the easy favorite to win the second leg of the Triple Crown with 3 to 5 odds (meaning a dollar only wins you 60 cents). His closest competitor, Itsmyluckyday, had 8 to 1 odds.

This should have been his race.

Instead, a horse with 15-1 odds--the fifth longest in Preakness Stakes history--named Oxbow led for practically the entire race winning it with a time of 1:57.54. To give you a little perspective on the odds, a $2 bet won $32.80.

So now fans will have to tune into the Belmont Stakes for what it is--one of the best events in sports--other than the third leg of an accomplishment not achieved since Affirmed in 1978.
