Another Day, Another New England Patriot Arrested

You would think that with the intense scrutiny the team is under courtesy of Aaron Hernandez that guys would be making an effort to toe the line a little more, but not these guys--or at least this guy. Defensive back Alfonzo Dennard has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

DUIs are nothing new in the NFL (sadly), but for a team that just cut a player that was arrested for murdering his friend the spotlight is definitely pretty big. As luck would have it there is not much light needed to see that another risky player is proving to be more of a problem than a benefit to the team.

Dennard is already set to serve 30-days in jail for felony assault on a police officer and resisting arrest, but the judge must have been a football and said he could serve the time next March (conviction was in April). There is no telling yet if this case will affect that one, but it will certainly affect his status in the NFL and possibly with the team.

Now the Patriots are going to be forced to make a decision. Do they cut him or keep him? On one  hand you could say that a precedent was set since they cut Hernandez supposedly before knowing he was getting charged with murder.

On the other, DUIs are nothing new in the NFL and the team can't afford to lose any more quality players (but they could anyway if he is suspended by the league).

So between the arrests and the international incident that ower Bob Kraft nearly caused by accusing the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, of stealing a Super Bowl ring I think we can expect to see Tim Tebow holding press conferences till the end of the season just to keep the press from talking about everything else!
