Chicago Cubs Have Creepiest Promotion Ever Coming Up

It is not uncommon for teams to run promotions during the season. Sometimes, especially when your club is not doing so good (like the Chicago Cubs) you need a little help getting people into the stands. Usually the promos are fun and/or involve some kind of giveaway--stuff every fan likes.

But with the Girl Scouts/Lucha Libre promotiion the Cubbies are running later this month they sort of passed over the notion of fun and went right to creepy instead.

For some odd reason the Cubs have decided to run a pair of promotions on July 30 when the Milwaukee Brewers come to town, one honoring the Girl Scouts of America and the other Lucha Libre Wrestling.

Picture this--thousands of little girls running around in their Girl Scout uniforms and a bunch of dudes wearing  masks. Can their be a  better breading ground for sickos to come out of the woodwork? I don't think so!

Yeah, someone didn't think this one all the way through.

Now there could be a very easy explanation to this. The Cubs do have a double header scheduled that day with the Brewers with a game at 2:20 and the other at 7:05. It would make sense if the Girl Scouts were to be involved in the first game and the crazy wrestling masks the second.

There could still be some Girl Scouts at the second game, but I imagine that most would go home after the first.

But so far it appears that there will be a pre-game parade for the Girl Scouts prior to the night game--with tons of guys wearing masks watching from the stands.

Not good Cubbies. Not good at all.

  1. I guess they patterned (no pun intended) it'd be too pricey to squeeze into Mattel's additional careful collector market and determined to follow.
