Mannings Insist Johnny Manziel Not Sent Home For Partying; Dad Says it Was Dehydration

With the reputation that Johnny Manziel has cultivated over the last few months it is not hard to see why the blog-o-sphere is assuming that the Texas A&M quarterback was sent home from the Manning Passing Academy. However, if you listen to the Mannings and Johnny's dad that is not the case at all.

The Mannings have insisted that Manziel as not sent home because he was partying. He did miss a few things Saturday morning, and when he showed up Archie Manning pulled him off to the side and had a talk. Apparently at that time Manziel mentioned he was not feeling well so he was sent home.

While this particular counselor going home is making national news because of who it is Peyton Manning says it happens all the time:

“I enjoyed meeting Johnny. I can remember a 20-year-old Eli [Manning] missing a meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year.”

Yes, this could be Peyton being nice and diplomatic, but longtime fans know he has no trouble calling people out for acting foolish (right, Mike Vanderjagt?). It would probably make the media's day if Peyton had talked to him like these kids:



But it doesn't sound like it did.

Johnny's dad Paul has already commented on the brewing controversy to the Dallas Morning News:

Manziel's father said in a text message that Manziel is resting at home with his family and is not football-ready but is feeling better.

Hmmm....as much as I want to believe Johnny would not be foolish enough to mess up something like the Manning Passing Academy dear ole' Dad did not do him any favors here. Dehydration? For a kid that grew up playing football in Texas?

Dehydration is not uncommon after a night of drinking (or so I've been told...).

I know it must be hard for Dad to hear so many people making comments about his son, but sometimes it doesn't pay to try and help.
