Until now.

The Texas Rangers have decided to give the 41-year old former slugger another shot at the Big League and have signed him to a minor league contract, but will likely have him up with the club after just a few games.
Manny has been playing in Taiwan with the EDA Rhinos, and has played well hitting .352/.422/.555. In 206 at-bats he hit eight home runs with just 21 strikeouts and 23 walks.
It's likely that he is going to just fill in at DH, a spot that Texas had signed Lance Berkman to fill. Berkman has had some injury issues this season so Manny's bat could come in handy. Should the duo both be healthy it would not be surprising to see Berkman back at first base and Manny at DH.
It would have to be a cold day in--you know--for either of these guys to be thrown back into the outfield again.
