Yankees Alex Rodriguez Angers Team By Skipping Rehab Game and Not Telling Anyone

Alex Rodriguez must not be too concerned with staying on (or getting on) good terms with the club. Otherwise he would not have had team officials scrambling and wondering where he was Friday in advance of a game with the club's single-A affiliate, the Tampa Yankees.

A-rod was scheduled to meet with baseball officials as part of the ongoing Biogenesis investigation on Firday, but the interview was not the problem. In fact, the officials involved in the interview assured the team that A-rod would be done in plenty of time to join the Tampa Yankees for a rehab assignment the same day.

He was done with the interview two hours before game time, but as the official start time drew near he was no where to be found. Eventually the team was able to get in contact with him and he informed them that he wasn't going to play that night.

The general public has not been told why just yet, but I'm assuming that A-rod did give them one (you would hope so). Unless someone was dying or he was gravely ill I can't imagine a scenario where the team was okay with him skipping.

So far general manager Brian Cashman has been silent about it. A-rod's camp has refused to answer any question related to him skipping the game either. Knowing Cashman though, this has to have him fuming.

There are some reports that he did eventually show up to the game hours later with the game already delayed due to weather. It would eventually be called.

On one hand that means this is one of those no-harm, no-foul situations, but unless A-rod has a direct line to Mother Nature there is no way he could have known that would happen.
