Former Ohio State QB Troy Smith is Back in the Game

Right when you think you are out--they pull you back in! Former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith has not played in the NFL since 2010 giving the appearance that his career was done. However, on Wednesday that all changed when he signed a two year contract.

You'll never guess who with...

No, he's not back with the Ravens where he spent three seasons or the 49ers who he played for in 2010 (starting five games and going 3-2).

He's heading up north to Canada to play with the Montreal Alouettes.

"We've been in discussions for well over three months and have been patiently waiting for Troy to finish his commitments at Ohio State," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in the USAToday.

Smith wasn't out of football altogether after the 49ers opted not to resign him. He did play with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011 before that league imploded. Pittsburgh signed him in January 2012, but cut him loose in June.

When he played he showed plenty of potential, but the emergence of Joe Flacco in Baltimore put an end to his hopes there. Even though he looked good in San Francisco Head Coach Jim Harbaugh opted to go with Alex Smith instead.

It may not be the NFL, but the CFL is still football. Good luck to you Troy.
