The New York Giants became another one of the many teams to have a player fall victim to a season ending injury Saturday in their preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During the second half wide receiver Kris Adams slipped during a play and ended up stepping on the foot of Steelers cornerback Josh Victorian when he tried to right himself. His left foot ended up getting caught underneath him.
As luck would have it he ended up fracturing his lower leg.
Adams was a promising wide receiver out of UTEP in 2011, but has failed to really catch on with a team yet. After going undrafted in '11 he spent time with the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Tennessee Titans, but failed to make the roster for anyone on opening day. Last season he caught on with the Colts but was rarely used.
For a player that was considered a fringe one to make the squad at best this will likely be the end of the line for him with the Giants. It would be surprising to see them hold onto someone who was not a lock to make the roster.
It sucks, but the NFL is a business which means often times hard decisions have to be made.
