Russian Gold Medalists Protest Anti-Gay Laws at World Championships With Group Kiss

Russian Gold Medalists Protest Anti-Gay Laws–The controversy over Russia’s laws took an interesting turn when four athletes kissed on the medal stand.



The kiss in question happened when the Russian 4X400 relay team went to the medal stand to receive their gold medals after edging out the British and American teams for the IAAF World Title. As they were being recognized for their accomplishment at the Championships in Moscow–and had all eyes on them–the team embraced in a quick (platonic) kissing session with each other.

In Russia the word is that they were not trying to make any kind of statement to the world, but were just two teammates that were happy and wanted to congratulate each other.

Ummm…okay; I can see that, but to do it on the top of the podium?...
