Preseason exists for a few reasons. The coaches need time to figure how who is going to play where, what new guys they need to hold onto, and what their weaknesses and strengths are. Players get a chance to earn a job and fine tune their game. Even referees get some much needed practice.
As we can hear from this clip the commentators need a little practice too. Apparently former coach turned commentator Steve Marriucci forgot his microphone was on and let something fly that he should not have.
