So they owe us. They owe us not just some good football, but some competitive, change the landscape of the national championship picture type of football--and we are getting it.
No. 14 Oklahoma @ No. 22 Notre Dame, 3:30 PM ET
The Sooners are trying to rebuild and are looking to prove that they are a legit contender even with a brand new QB (that is shaky at best). Notre Dame is trying to prove that last season was not a fluke. When all is said and done I think one team will slide out of the public eye while the other remains a top 25 team.
I'm not a big fan of the Sooners. They've played no one yet and will get a rude awakening in South Bend.
No. 6 LSU @ No. 9 Georgia, 3:30 PM ET
This is going to be one of the best games of the college football season. LSU has an okay offense and an awesome defense; Georgia has a good defense and an awesome offense. Can LSU score enough? Can Georgia get their offense on track against a tough defense? Who knows, but games like this are why college football rocks.
If I had money to gamble with I would put money on the Bulldogs. They have already played some quality defenses and proven that they can score. I don't think that LSU's offense will be able to score. This will be a great game, but look for Georgia to come out on top.
No. 21 Ole Miss @ No. 1 Alabama, 6:30 PM ET
This game will either rock or suck. Either Alabama's defense will shut down Ole Miss and the Tide will roll to a 21 point win or this will be an offensive shoot out. Ole Miss has the ability to put up points and the Alabama defense has been vulnerable. At the same time A.J. McCarron has proven that he can guide his offense to big points as well. As good as the Ole Miss defense is, the Crimson Tide is full of NFL-caliber talent.
If I was a gambler I would stay away from this one. The football fan in me wants to see Ole Miss upset Alabama and really shake up the national championship landscape. Can they? I don't have clue, but I will be watching.
This game stands to shake up the Big 10 and more importantly the national championship picture. Like many top teams, OSU has yet to really play anyone. So yes, while they have looked fantastic even with their back-up QB in they have not played any real competition.
The Badgers are real competition. Their running game can keep the Buckeyes off the field. Braxton Miller can't score if he can't get his hands on the ball. I'm looking for a big upset to come here; at the least an awesome football game.
No. 20 Florida @ Kentucky, 7 PM ET
There are a handful of other games that are going to be awesome, but this is one I think can make a real statement. Florida is as overrated as they come, and with a new quarterback in the backfield--all be it a talented athlete--there offense is going to falter even more this week. Head Coach Will Muschamp is not the kind of coach that players love to play for. They will; but I don't see him being able to get the most out of them.
Why? He's too big a jerk. Players do respond to fear and intimidation, but rarely with their best effort.
Kentucky is an up and coming program. This could be a signature win for a program that is known for playing basketball.
The difference maker will be Kentucky's head coach, Mark Stoops. Can he get his guys to believe they are better than they are? Can he convince them that they can beat the Gators? Can he get them to fight back when the Gators start to roll?
Yes.
