It's a sad day for Yankees fans everywhere. The greatest closer to ever play the game, Mariano Rivera, has pitched for the last time at the stadium he helped build. The entire season has been leading to this moment, but even though the team and fans knew it was coming does not make it any easier now that is here.

The team did what they could to send him off right. Rather than send Joe Girardi out to get him two of his longtime teammates, Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter (one who is retiring and the other who should), to go get him.
Needless to say, there were a few hugs shared and a tear or two was shed. Mo got the respect that he deserved from the crowd, but when it was done and he was in the dugout he decided there was one last thing he needed to do.
Take a piece of the mound he has called home with him (and I can't say I blame him).

If you want to watch his curtain call at Yankee Stadium MLB has a nice little video of it:
Thanks for the memories Mo. Now go enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
