The Commodores may not have looked like much of an opponent for the Georgia Bullldogs going into Saturday's game with a record of 3-3, but James Franklin's Vanderbilt team is no joke. They just so happen to play some really tough teams (i.e. the rest of the SEC).
For awhile it looked like Aaron Murray might be able to will his team to victory, but in the end the Bulldogs fell short (like this Hail Mary attempt) losing to Vanderbilt 31-27.
From Bleacher Report |
The loss puts an end to any SEC and BCS title hopes the Bulldogs were holding on to barring a few epic breakdowns by some other teams. While it doesn't put Vanderbilt in contention for anything it does establish the team as one to watch and be wary of going forward--and it could even affect the team's future.
Vanderbilt is easily one of the most up-and-coming college football teams in the nation with some excellent talent and one of the best head coaches in football in James Franklin. Should they be able to hold onto him-- since there are going to be some big time programs calling-- there is a strong chance that there could be a new power on the rise in the SEC.
