Gary Kubiak Did It--he Pulled Case Keenum for Matt Schaub

Houston Texans fans were given cause to worry earlier in the week when Gary Kubiak refused to commit to Case Keenum the rest of the way, instead taking the time to compliment Matt Schaub on his work ethic and desire to get back on the field. He said that Keenum would have to keep playing well in order to stay in the game.

I guess what he meant to say is that the defense would have to play well in order for Keenum to stay in the game.

From Bleacher Report
Late in the third quarter Kubiak pulled the trigger, but not after Keenum did anything wrong. No, he waited till after the defense gave up an 80-yard run for a touchdown to put the Texans down 28-17. Keenum was not playing bad. He was not hurt (that we are aware of). There is no reason that I can see for doing the deed.

This kind of move is the kiss of death. There is nothing worse for a team and head coach other than indecision at quarterback. Kubiak has now succeeded in generating doubt in the locker room (whose going to play? what does it take to get pulled? does coach like me because I want to play?) which will show at practice, but more importantly on Sunday.

I've been a fan since the Texans hired you Kubiak, but this is the final straw for me. It's time for you to go. Hey--I hear USC is hiring; possibly TCU; maybe Texas...

  1. It's time for a coach that's a winner, a coach that understands how today's offenses are playing,..... that coach is KEVIN SUMLIN!!!
