Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin is not Going Anywhere

Fans of the USC Trojans, Houston Texans, and just about any other team looking for a new head coach got some bad news Saturday afternoon. On the other hand--Texas A&M fans got some great news. After wrapping up a new 6-year deal the team's head coach, Kevin Sumlin, is not going anywhere!

There has been speculation all season that the Aggies were going to have to do something in order to make sure they didn't lose their head coach to the West Coast or an NFL team. The Houston Texans had to be a appealing job with his history at the University of Houston, familiarity with Case Keenum, and the possibility he could draft Johnny Manziel in the coming draft.

But there is also something to be said for staying in one place and building a solid program, and it looks like Sumlin is aiming to do just that.

Sumlin had this to say via AggieAthletics:
“I am humbled and very appreciative of the commitment that Texas A&M has extended not only to me and my family, but to our football program overall. We have only just begun to lay the foundation for sustained, long-term success here at Texas A&M, and we will work hard every day to make this great institution and the 12th Man proud.”
Some will undoubtedly find the move surprising since he just got a raise last season, and he has yet to win his division let alone the conference. However, he has won more games in his first two seasons (19 and counting) than any other coach in school history.

Alright--so the Coach is staying. How about you Johnny?

One more year?
