Tony Romo--Whipping Boy?

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is one of those guys that fans love to hate. Why? Right when he seems like he is going to lead the team to greatness he does something stupid and the Cowboys remain mired in mediocrity (i.e. Denver game this season).

At those times it is not unusual to hear Romo get blasted in the media from anyone and everyone--but whipping boy?

Sure he's made some mistakes over  the years; some pretty fantastic ones in fact. Sometimes it appears as if he is trying to keep the game interesting by making sure both teams are in it. On the other hand, he does have an amazing knack for getting the team out of those fixes (just not always).

But whipping boy? I don't know. Seems a little harsh to me.
