Jon Kitna Donating His Game Check to the High School he Works At

In a move befitting only the Dallas Cowboys 41-year old Jon Kitna is coming out of retirement to serve as the No. 2 or 3 quarterback for the Cowboys in their season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles (and possibly more). As a veteran of 15 seasons he will be due a single game check of $53,000.

Not bad for a week of playing football, huh?

What's really crazy is how it came to be. He didn't work out for the team. He just sent a text to Jason Garrett and offered up his services. At first Garrett reacted in disbelief, but than went ahead and signed him anyway.

Should he actually be needed even he has played in the Cowboys system before and didn't stink it up too bad; he could do it again. However, he's 41. I don't care that he's been running the scout team for the high school he coaches and teaches at. A 41-year old body is not made to play quarterback in the NFL.

Not well at least.

Kitna must be aware of this. He's already stated that he hopes he never sees the field, which makes it kind of interesting that he offered his services. That is, unless he knew the team would sign him and he just wanted an easy 50 grand--but he didn't.

He's going to donate the game check to the high school he works for in Tacoma, Washington.

Hmm. So he's not an opportunistic money grubbing schmuck. He's just being a good guy and helping out his school. Good for you Jon.

I still don't get why the Cowboys are going to sign a guy that is going to break in half the first time he gets hit--if he gets hit--but its Jerry's team. Since when does he do things that make sense?
