Michigan State Fans Find a Way to Buy Stanford's Rose Bowl Tickets

It's a great day to be a Michigan State fan. The football team has kicked some serious butt this season, defeated Ohio State and Michigan, and is heading back to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 25 years. The granddaddy of them all may not mean anything to the Oregon Ducks, but it does mean something to the Spartans.

And the fans are doing whatever they can to make sure they can procure tickets--even if it means buying Stanford's tickets.

What?

For those that don't know, much like the regular season where a block of tickets are set out for the home team's students and the away team gets a certain number teams in a bowl game are given a number of tickets for their fan base to buy. How exactly the school goes about divvying them up is up to them.

Stanford decided to give those willing to throw down a deposit on '14 season season tickets a chance to buy Rose Bowl tickets. The demand was high enough that they raised the deposit from $100 to $200. As it turns out a lot of people throwing down a deposit are not Stanford faithful.

They are Spartans.

The mark up in the secondary market is outrageous making this option more appealing to those that really want to go. So even though the game is going to be in Stanford country the crowd may have a lot more green in than you'd expect.
