Referee Makes Horrendous Call in Texas Bowl

Referees are human. I get that. They are going to make mistakes. They are not going to get every call right--which is why some called can be reviewed via replay. Games are supposed to be decided by the players; not by a bum call made by the ref.

That being said there are some calls that are so bad there just isn't an explanation for them.

SEC refs are working the Texas Bowl, and for some odd reason they called the ball carrier in the above fumble 'down by rule.'

Go ahead. Wonder why. Say 'WTF?' a couple times. I certainly did.

Replay was able to correct the oversight, but I can't help but wonder what in the world the official was watching. There is no way he was watching the game.
