Reliant Stadium (Home of the Houston Texans) Security Guards Fired for Taking Picture With Tom Brady

I know I don't need to say this, but things are not going well for the Houston Texans. When they are as bad as they are (than again, getting the No. 1 pick will be good), the last thing the team should want to do is anything that could bring some more bad press down on the organization.

So doing things like firing a pair of security guards for taking a picture with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady--not good.

Local Houston news has reported that a pair of security guards were fired for doing just that, but the company is defending the move saying that it is company policy not to ask celebrities and athletes to take pictures with them. One of the canned guards was fully aware of the rule, but says that he was done working; he just hadn't clocked out yet.

“I said, ‘Hey Tom Brady, good job, good game man.’ He looked at me and smiled,” Joel Williams, one of the fired security guards, said. “He was very polite, very nice guy, humble. Sometimes I see players and say hello, and they just keep walking.”

Pretty much right after the pic was taken he was run down by a supervisor and let go.

Williams has tried to defend himself by saying that his job was done and that he was on the way to clock out. He also called out the company for not being consistent with the rule, implying that its something that happens all the time.

Folks are likely going to take this as one of two ways. Since it is company policy not to do what he did and the punishment is clear there is no excuse. At the same time, if the company is not consistent with the application of the rule it makes them appear petty since Brady had just led the Patriots to a second half comeback over the Texans.

What does this mean to the fans? Not much; just that eventually it will get better.

It has to. It can't get much worse.
