Danny Woodhead is the New Mighty Mouse of the NFL

A few years back when Maurice Jones-Drew became a household name and the star of fantasy football teams everywhere he became known as the Mighty Mouse of the NFL. At 5'7" the man was--well, not very big, but man could he run the ball!

After watching the way another diminutive running back played Sunday I think we definitely have a new Mighty Mouse on our hands--San Diego Chargers running back Danny Woodhead!

From Bleacher Report
The Chadron State product stands just an inch taller than MJD at 5'8" but weighs in at 200 pounds (with his pads on maybe). While he doesn't have the speed and elusiveness that MJD has he has the heart of a lion and has a knack for making plays like few others.

From Bleacher Report
I suppose this comes as no surprise to many since he has been making plays for the New England Patriots for a few years, but since the Pat didn't feel the need to hold on to the little dynamo he's doing it for Phillip Rivers and the Chargers now.

In today's NFL it doesn't look like he'll have the opportunity to become the starter that MJD is, but in the long run that could be a good thing. Yeah, that means he'll never make the big money, but that also means his body will be in better shape to spend the money he does make.

  1. I am a die hard Charger fan. When it was announced that they were signing Danny, I was really upset. Now? I'll eat my words and say I was WRONG! This guy can flat out play some football. It just goes to show that Mark Twain's quote about "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog," is right on when it comes to Mr. Woodhead. He's been impressive all season long and I'm sure by now the New England Patriots are second guessing their decision to let him go. The next interesting thing to happen would be to see if he returns to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro in a couple of weeks and see how the fans react. But first, we got to get pass those damn donkeys. Its going to hard, but I think they can pull out a win and upset. We'll see. Go Chargers!
