Johnny Manziel Declaring for the NFL Draft; Writes Thank You Letter to Fans [UPDATE]

Well, in not so breaking news today we have the one thing we all figured would happen and that ESPN broke a day early--Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will be taking his considerable talents to the NFL. Yes, the man, the myth, the legend that is Johnny Football has declared for the NFL draft.

Shocking. Yes, I know.

With the way he's played the last two seasons the world expected him to do it; it was just a matter of time before he did. ESPN first broke the news Tuesday afternoon that he had hired an agent and would be working with LeBron James's partner, Mav Carter, for marketing purposes.

I have to say that I really hoped that he's wait another work or return to college after ESPN spoiled his announcement by breaking the story early. After the way they came after him about the whole autograph mess without a lick of proof it would have served them right (yes, I know they had 'sources' but anyone can claim that without having it; the video that no one ever say doesn't mean crap either--because no one ever saw it).

While I expected him to go pro I did hope he would stay in college one more year. He is one of the most dynamic play makers in the game (college or pro) today, but I thought he could benefit from another year under Kevin Sumlin and fine tuning his skills in the college ranks.

He did make tremendous strides this past season on his passing game, but his appeal is as a dual threat. At time he did know seem to know when he should run or when he should hold back an attempt a pass. It would have been a lot easier to work on that against college defenses than the ones he'll see next year in the NFL.

That's just my two cents. Good luck to you Johnny. Texas A&M is happy to have had you as long as it did.
