Stupid Play by Marques Colston Cost the Saints a Shot to Tie the Game Against Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks deserved to win the divisional playoff game against the New Orleans Saints Saturday, but as fans know all too well the team that deserves to win is not always the one that does. After Marshawn Lynch put the Seahawks up 23-8 this one looked done.

But than a quick Saints touchdown and a successful onside kick later and we still have a game on our hands.

From Bleacher Report
Had Colston stepped out at the 36 or 37 yard line the Saints would have had at least one shot at a reasonable distance to tie the game up. Instead he does what you see above.

If he was throwing it to someone at least close to being laterally across the field fine, but this guy was a good 8-10 yards in front of him. Was he completely disoriented? Did he not know where he was? Did the 30-year old veteran player make the kind of rookie mistake that will make him the butt of jokes on the internet tonight.

I can't answer the first two questions, but the answer to the last one will undoubtedly be yes.
