Switzer went on a St. Louis radio program to do what former coaches do--talk football--and when it came to the subject of Johnny Football he had some polarizing comments about him.
Barry Switzer on @TMASTL: "I don't like Johnny Manziel's antics. I think he's an arrogant little prick."

Wow. Don't pull any punches now Coach. What's interesting though is that while he may not like the Johnny Football persona he couldn't heap enough praise on Johnny Manziel the quarterback.
Barry Switzer: "I've compared Manziel to Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson. He takes over a game like those guys did."

Barry Switzer on Manziel: "I've never seen a CFB QB do what he does. It's staggering…He's the most dominant CFB QB I've seen in a long time"

Talk about lofty company! As if that wasn't enough when asked about whether the home town Rams should take him with the No. 2 pick if he's available he was quick to say yes (not so fond of former Sooners QB Sam Bradford Coach?).
Barry Switzer: If Manziel is there for the Rams at #2, you draft him.

Some may call him wishy-washy for being critical of Manziel and than so over the top complimentary, but he was really being thorough and precise with his comments. Often times the player and the person are two different people. The person off the field can be a real jerk, but as long as he produces on the field--from a coaching perspective--that's what matters most.
It's also just his way to speak in a manner that is somewhat polarizing. When you listen to Switzer he is not going to try and ride the fence and say something that will make everyone happy. He is going to tell it like he sees it.
Like he did when asked about drafting a gay player.
Switzer on whether an owner would draft a gay player: "There are owners out there who would draft Charles Manson if he could run a 4.2 40."
