If there is one thing folks like to see more than their country dominating everyone else in an event its a massive wipeout/crash/fail--whatever you want to call it--and when it comes to the Olympics they don't tend to be just little ones. No-they tend to be big. We are talking about a global stage after all!
Check out this one that happened in women's speedskating
The event is the short-track 500 meter finals. Great Britain's Elise Christie tried to make a move on the turn, but instead ended up taking out a couple of her competitors instead making it pretty easy for the last women standing--China's Jianrou Li--to take the gold.
Before you start thinking that she doesn't deserve it, the Chinese are actually pretty good at speedskating. This makes the nation's fourth straight gold in the event.
So there is a good chance she would have won it anyway.
