Jerry Jones Keeping Bill Callahan Due to Fear of Deja vu?

It must be tough owning an NFL franchise. Who am I kidding? It has to rock! You own it so no one can tell you what to do with it (to a degree), you can hire who you want, you can draft who you want; heck, it is the ultimate game of fantasy football.

Right Jerry Jones?

That has to be the logic that Jones has when he looks at the Dallas Cowboys. It would explain some of the moves he makes. For example--holding on to Bill Callahan while hiring Scott Linnehan.

The logic behind the move is similar to a one commonly used in fantasy sports. Player A needs to pick up a running back. The guy he is playing--Player B--does not need a running back, but has room on his bench so he picks him up so that his opponents can't pick him up.

Jerry Jones is doing just that, but with coaches.

The last time he ditched a coordinator--Rob Ryan--he went on to take one of the worst defenses in the league and turned it in to one of the best. What if Callahan could do that too? If he landed with the right team--like maybe the Ravens--he could do some serious damage.

So if your name is Jerry Jones what do you do? Since money isn't really an object you go ahead and play keep away by holding on to both. That way the one he lets go can't come back to bite him on the behind like it did last season.
