Rugby Team Hit With Hefty Fine for Removing Officials' Underwear

Most folks in the United States have heard about rugby (media, friends, TV, movies, etc), known someone that has played, or maybe even played a little bit themselves. The one thing that the most knowledgeable to the greenest of green fans will probably agree on is this--rugby players are nuts.

Well--this story is going to support that contention.

An English rugby club, Aylestone St James, was recently hit with a fine of 1575 pounds (over $2600)by the RFU. What could cause them to be hit with such a heavy fine you ask? Well--they stole the underwear off the officials of the match.

Yes, the officials were still wearing them at the time.

It seems that it is tradition that when hanging out in the clubhouse you have to go commando. Since the refs were not willing to comply on their own the team 'helped' them become compliant.

The club has apologized for the incident and I am assuming they will likely pay the fine without much fuss. I am also assuming that the next time anyone visits their clubhouse it will be sans underwear.
