Syracuse Falls From the Ranks of the Unbeaten; Loses to Lowly Boston College

It was bound to happen. Going unbeaten is--well, it is not that easy. That's why it has only been done seven times since 1939. Syracuse had to know it was going to happen, but they likely never figured it would be lowly Boston College that would take them down.

The last time Boston College had defeated a division I team was in November. For the season they had only won six games and had yet to win one in February. There BPI--159; Syracuse--3. For all intents and purposes there was no way BC should have hung with the Orange.

But they certainly did a lot more than that.

After falling behind 25-17 at the half, but came roaring back in the second half outscoring Syracuse 33-25 to tie the game up at 50-50.

Shocked? Well--the surprise didn't end there.

In overtime it  was pretty much all BC. The Eagles only trailed for a few moments with around a minute left, 57-56. Patrick Heckmann made a layup shortly after to give Boston College the lead for good.

Syracuse had been cutting it close the last couple of games so the fact that they lost will not come as a surprise to many. The trick now will be for Jim Boeheim to get the team back on track before facing Duke on Saturday.
