Duke's Mike Krzyzewski Hit With a Ridiculous Tech During ACC Title Game [GIF]

There is no job--except maybe the President's--that is as heavily scrutinized as a referee's. It doesn't matter what the sport is; basketball, football, baseball, hockey, etc. No one loves your work (maybe the winning team) and everyone is quick to tell you how much you suck, how stupid you are, how you don't have a clue what you are doing, and all sorts of mean things.

And when they make calls like this one on Duke head coach I can see why.

For some odd reason this was deemed worthy of a technical foul. To be fair, Coach K had just finished yelling at the ref when he turned and threw his marker down so it wasn't just for the marker throw.

But a tech? For that? Come on son!

I understand how frustrating it must be for refs, but the only explanation for that call was the ref took something personal. I don't know what, but whatever it was I'm sure he's heard worse over the course of his career.

Not that coaches or players should be allowed to say whatever they want, but let the play decided the game ref. Had Duke lost by one or two rather than nine (72-63) fans would be outraged over this rather than simply annoyed.
