Part of the fun for sports reporters is the opportunity to predict what they think is going to happen. Next to highlights from the last game, injury reports, and gossip what people like to read about is what they think could happen next. They are not always right of course, but that doesn't become too much of an issue as long as the reporter doesn't make any promises.
Like long time Houston reporter made in regards to the Texans and their plans for the first round of the draft.

Months ago Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain swore that he would eat the front page of the newspaper if the Texans didn't draft a quarterback in the first round.
Well--they didn't.
Rather than be one of those guys that talks the talk but doesn't walk it McClain followed through with his promise.
