For the second off-season in row the Dallas Mavericks lost out on the free agent they targeted, but that didn't stop Mark Cuban from putting together a pretty good squad anyway. They were much better than your typical No. 8 seed and certainly pushed the San Antonio Spurs.
But in the end it just wasn't meant to be. Sunday's 119-96 loss was worse than it looked and Monta Ellis felt it--but Mark Cuban's got his back.
